It’s time we embraced the term “crazy cat lady”. It’s actually something to be proud of. It is also an endearing badge for men to adopt. We know men who love cats have a kind soul and are less controlling.
Years of scientific research has proven that owning a cat has positive effects on our physical and mental health. It also suggests that cohabitating with cats has zero effect on developing psychosis later in life.
Published in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, scientists found that cat ownership can be beneficial to our healthin a number of ways. Most significantly, researchers observed a decreased risk for death due to heart attack and all cardiovascular diseases (including stroke) among persons with cats.
Stroking and cuddling a cat can reduce symptoms of anxiety. A chemical called oxytocin (a bonding hormone) is released into your brain when you pet a cat. This can make you feel less stress and gives you a feeling of well-being. It also exercises your smile muscles, who doesn’t feel a smile come on when you pet, interact or play with a cat?
